Dr. Saenz was born in Washington D.C. and was raised in Bogota, Colombia (South America) where he graduated from medical school (University of Rosario) in 1978. Subsequently, he trained in Internal Medicine (internship and residency at L.S.U. School of Medicine in New Orleans) and in Cardiology (University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama). After completing his fellowship in cardiology he served in the faculty as assistant professor at U.A.B. and in 1988 joined Florida Heart Group in Orlando.
Dr. Saenz is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, Council in Clinical Cardiology, and American College of Physicians and his publications include several articles and abstracts related to interventional cardiology. He has been actively involved in clinical research in the area of ischemic heart disease and interventional cardiology. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Department of Cardiology for Florida Hospital in Orlando and is presently co-director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
