Harischandra B. Karunaratne, MD
Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease

Dr. Karunaratne was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He came to the Florida Heart Group in 1999. He completed his cardiology fellowship at the University of Chicago and has previously practiced in Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

He has had numerous publications and delivered many presentations at national and international meetings. He has been involved in clinical cardiovascular research projects in Orlando since 1985.

He is currently the Director of the Coronary Care Unit and Chest Pain Observation Units and Co-Director of Cardiology Research at Florida Hospital Orlando. His current clinical and research interests include acute coronary syndrome, chest pain evaluation and preventative cardiology. He has been recognized by his peers as one of the top cardiologists in Central Florida according to Orlando Magazine.
